I would be lying if I said that nothing has been going on in our little world since the last post because it has been entirely the opposite. There's nothing quite like moving into a new house, trying to get things situated, painting, working on Christmas presents and everything holiday related, and squeaking some rides in all the while working (A LOT) and doing the regular everyday life stuff. Since riding has been a bit on the back burner, there hasn't been a lot to write about in that regard other than our commuting rides have been "interesting" to say the least. The 6 inches of snow we've gotten since Sunday has made the roads a little dicey in the mornings but, they're usually not that bad for the ride home. A couple my co-workers think I'm nuts for riding in this weather. That's not unexpected. On the other hand, another of my co-workers told me Monday morning that I'm officially "hardcore" for riding in the then 4" of snow and temps in the low 20's. He's a burly dude that rides a Harley in 30F weather so I'll take that as a compliment.
In the meantime, I'm working on my training schedule for next year. The last few weeks of mainly maintenance rides to keep loose have been a nice break from the intensity of cyclocross season but, January 1st is only a few days away and the hammer gets dropped. Indoor training (hopefully not as necessary as last year) will be a lot easier now that we have a basement again and a lot more space. As usual, I'm looking forward to another year of racing and I hope to do more than I did in 2009. We'll just have to wait and see how things go.
Until next time, I hope everyone had a good Christmas and has a Happy New Year. As for me, I'm going to return to enjoying one of my Christmas presents. Tasty.
